Bulldog Hotline - Oct. 3, 1999

Hotline Reports
After Munson noted all the strange happenings yesterday (rattling off all the ranked teams which lost), he reminded us that Ohio St., like UGA, lost heavily in talent to graduation and the NFL.JD was pleased overall with the effort in the second half, but not with three holding penalties inside the 10 (one of which was declined). The defense played great in the second half, except for two plays on LSU’s final drive.

Bulldog Hotline - Sept. 26, 1999... In Memoriam

Hotline Reports
In Memory of ... Coach Pat Watson (1943-1999)

Munson reminded us all that penalties, mistakes and question marks don’t really matter in the grand scheme of things. (Just in case everyone hasn’t already been jerked back to reality by the sudden, tragic death of Coach Watson Saturday night.)JD and Watson had spent a lot of time together, all the way back to working together under Bill Dooley at UNC, and Watson will be missed personally, as well as professionally.

Bulldog Hotline - Sept. 19, 1999

Hotline Reports
Warning signs in other SEC surprises…given surprising wins by Auburn and Vandy, Munson wondered. JD more concerned with things coming up immediately. JD was surprised at wins by Vandy and La. Tech, but not the performance of So. Miss at Nebraska.Interesting that Florida had the game in hand but made serious late mistakes and almost killed itself. So long as Johnson does not make major mistakes, the Gators have a chance to have a great year.

High speed game now causes contact fumbles, and lack of the one inch tee results in more blocked PKs, especially longer FGs.

Bulldog Hotline - Sept. 14, 1999

Hotline Reports
This will be a much shorter report; due to a church function, I only heard the first half of the show this evening. (I was surprised when this show was moved from Sunday to Tuesday, given the Braves and Falcons schedules.) From other reports Ive seen, not much was said this week. Everyones attention is - as it should be - on monster Hurricane Floyd as it brushes Florida on its way to Savannah and Charleston. Plus, we have an open week. Munson was also fooled by the switch; he was in Memphis on a speaking engagement, so Scott Howard filled in.

Bulldog Hotline - Sept. 5, 1999

Hotline Reports
Munson opened by commenting on the number of players JD played…especially the backup QBs. JD was pleased with the big crowd, but not by the fact we did not score more points, given that we rolled up almost 600 yds. Both Munson and JD were surprised Utah St. moved the ball as well as they did. JD noted Utah St. did a lot of things to help protect their QB, who still got hit on most every pass attempt. We were hurt defensively on misdirection plays, and need to work on staying home while still being aggressive on defense. We did much better at creating turnovers.
