Florida Times-Union sports columnist Bill Kastelz was the first to call the Georgia-Florida game, “The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.” That was back in the 1950s, soon after Kastelz, while covering the game, spotted a drunken tailgater offer a drink to a policeman. From about.com.

Homecoming Week packed with activities for students, alumni and fans

From UGA.edu: Athens, Ga. –“Take Me Down to the Classic City,” is the theme of this year’s Homecoming Week festivities, which begin Nov. 1. Activities for students are scheduled throughout the week, and the weekend is crowded with events for alumni and the Nov. 7 football game against Tennessee Tech, which will feature the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen.

From approximately 1933 to 1993, Georgia and Georgia Tech's Freshman and/or Junior Varsity teams would play each other on Thanksgiving Day. All proceeds went to the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Atlanta, GA. Thanks to redclayhound, TEEDAWG, varsitydawg, and AJones for sharing their collection with us.
